The Murders of Ariel and Kfir Bibas: Were You Paying Attention?

If you were shocked by this brutality against Jewish children, then I am sorry to say that you have just not been paying attention.

In an official statement on February 21, 2025, IDF Spokesman Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari said, “Ariel and Kfir Bibas were murdered in cold blood by terrorists. The terrorists did not shoot the two young boys — they killed them with their bare hands. Afterward, they committed horrific acts to cover up these atrocities.”

If you were shocked by this brutality against Jewish children, then I am sorry to say that you have just not been paying attention.

You weren’t paying attention in 2011, when Hakim Maazan Niad Awad and Amjad Mahmud Fauzi Awad peered through the window of the Fogel family home in Itamar, spotted four-year-old Elad and 11-year-old Yoav sleeping in their beds, and snuck in to murder them with knives. After that, they entered the parents’ bedroom, where they knifed and shot Ehud and Ruth Fogel to death. The terrorists then left the house. But when they heard the cries of a baby, they went back. Finding three-month-old Hadas in her crib, they again took out their knives and stabbed the baby to death. She was nearly beheaded.

The Fogel Family

Two other Fogel children survived the attack. When Amjad was captured, he told his Israeli interrogators that he would have killed them too. He just didn’t know they were there.

And you weren’t paying attention in 2001, either, when a sniper zeroed in on little Shalhevet Pas as she sat in her stroller. The terrorist pulled the trigger and a bullet to the head killed the 10-month-old baby.

And you surely weren’t paying attention in 2004, when terrorists opened fire on the Hatuel family car. When it stopped moving, the Gazans came up to the vehicle and shot Tali Hatuel, eight months pregnant, and her four daughters at close range. They were close enough to see the terrified and confused faces of Hila, 11, Hadar, 9, Roni, 7, and Meirav, aged two and still strapped in her car seat, before murdering them.

Shalhevet Pas and her parents

I know you were not paying attention in 2002, when a suicide bomber walked over to a group of women and children outside a Bar Mitzvah celebration in Jerusalem and detonated his explosives. Among the eleven people killed were sisters Shiraz (7) and Liran (3) Nehmad, Shaul Nehmad (15), Avraham Eliahu Nehmad (7), Lidor (12) and his sister Oriah (18 months) Ilan, and Ya'akov Avraham Eliyahu (7 months).

Were you even aware of the murder of Hallel-Yaffa Ariel, age 13, in 2016? The terrorist broke into her house, found her asleep in bed, and stabbed her to death. (The mother of the terrorist praised her son’s actions on camera and expressed hope that others would follow in his path.)

Those are just a few of the attacks since the year 2000 by Arabs from the Palestinian Authority that are most clearly directed at Jewish children.

Yet, even if you were somehow blissfully ignorant of all that, then you must have been paying attention on October 7, 2023. On that day alone:

  • Mila Cohen, 10 months old, was murdered by Gazans in her home in Kibbutz Be’eri. She was shot while in the arms of her mother, Sandra.
  • Twins Arbel and Shachar Siman Tov, age 5, were murdered by Gazans in their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz, alongside their brother Omer, 2. Their entire family was murdered that day.
  • Eitan Kapshetar, 5 years old, and his sister Aline, 8, were murdered in their family car in Sderot. Their entire family was also wiped out that day.
  • Noya Dan, 12 years old, was murdered by Gazans in Kibbutz Nir Oz. Noya was an autistic child and very close with her grandmother, who was also murdered alongside her that day.
  • Twins Yanai and Liel Hetzroni, aged 12, were murdered by Gazans in their home in Kibbutz Be’eri.

And that is just some of the younger children murdered by the Gazan terrorists and their helpers that dark day. There are unfortunately many more.

As long ago as 1982, the Israeli representative to the United Nations sent a letter to the organization’s secretary-general in which he wrote, among other things:

“On 11 March 1982, at 1130 hours (local time), a time bomb exploded outside a crowded nursery school in the Jesse Cohen neighborhood in the city of Holon. The device contained nails which scattered as lethal projectiles in every direction.

“… It will be recalled that Israeli children, as well as Jewish children outside of Israel, have been one of the prime targets of the terrorist PLO over the years. Thus, for instance, on 7 April 1980, the PLO seized at Kibbutz Misgav Am two nursery buildings where infants and toddlers were asleep, together with some of their mothers.

“… Other PLO outrages against Israeli children include an attack on 28 November 1980 on a school bus full of children returning from a birthday party; the placing of two explosive devices in a children's playground in Bat Yam on 15 January 1980; the murder of two little girls, aged four and three (and of their father) in Nahariyah on 22 April 1979; the murder of 21 schoolchildren in Ma'alot on 15 May 1974; the murder of 8 children, together with 10 adults, in Kiryat Shmonah on 11 April 1974; and the murder of 7 schoolchildren and 2 teachers on 22 May 1970.

“… Thus, for instance, on 27 July 1980, the PLO attacked, in Antwerp, Belgium, a group of 40 Jewish schoolchildren on a Sunday outing, murdering one of them and injuring 17 children and adults.”

And so it goes – back to pre-state Israel, as well. During the 1929 series of massacres and attacks on Jews across Israel, British Police Superintendent Raymond Cafferata reported, “On hearing screams in a room, I went up a sort of tunnel passage and saw an Arab in the act of cutting off a child's head with a sword. … Behind him was a Jewish woman smothered in blood with a man I recognized as a[n Arab] police constable named Issa Sheriff from Jaffa. He was standing over the woman with a dagger in his hand.”

Ariel and Kfir Bibas

So, if you were shocked by the degradation and brutality of the Gazans in the murders of little Ariel and Kfir, I beg of you – for the sake of our children’s children – start paying attention.

  • As a Christian citizen of the United States, I am extremely saddened and disgusted by the attacks on Jewish families. It is 2025, and this kind of insanity must stop. MUST!
  • I am asking the Jewish community what I can do to help. I’m not wealthy so donations are a bit out of the question. I would love to be a part of the resolution the these horrors.

I am very upset about the whole hostage deal, it is sad about the live hostages and at least you get the bodies of the dead hostages but at a high price letting out a lot of murderous terrorists that kill/ murder again now they want to G _ d forbid target Judea and Samaria Israel should enforce the death penalty not only for Adolf Eichmann( may their name be erased) but for the Nazis( may their name be erased) that speak Arabic the more about look at this tragedy I see Kahane( obm) was 100% right the facts speak for themselves

Actually, I think Giolath and David were related when you go to the book of Ruth, Ruth was a relative of David and Giolath was the son or grandson of Orpah, were both married to Naimi Ruth's mother in law, one daughter became a Jew the other one married the enemy of the Jews, that is why David could take him down plus I think David was a red headed person

In my Shabbat reading material it mentioned the prophets about Giolath tauting the Jews and their G _ d who was from the Philestines and every one was afraid except David stood up and fought the enemy, once again the Jewish David's have to fight our enemies in Gaza, also Samson destroyed our enemies in Gaza once again Jews have to fight the enemies in Gaza but now they gave their a similar name to our old enemies but the real Palestinans are the Jews, like before in history whoever starts up with Jews/ Israel will get defeated and won't exist anymore everyone is mortal but Jews they are immortal because Hashem choose us and Am Yisrael Chai

Their idea is to kill all Jewish children so none grow up and have more children and then just those who wish to be martyrs will kill all the adults so no more Jews

It is like normal humans sterilize stray dogs and cats to bring down the population but with no thought of wiping dogs and cats from the planet nor is it ever considered right to kill the dogs or puppies that are still being born. It is just to stop the suffering of the countless strays.

They want to wipe out Jews they don't even want a Jew to convert in reality, a dead Jew is better for their god and their souls.

I will never give up hope of a miracle that they realise that life and living and accepting others' beliefs is the best way to live but sadly at my older age only expect the worst from them against us.

My mother(obm) had a expression in Yiddish or German " we came to hit the Jews" " but we didn't know the Jews will hit back" , and when the Jews/ Israel gave back it unleashed anti semitism Israel has every right to defend themselves, the world is just as disgusting s it was in the Holocaust letting children be murdered/ killed just because they were born Jewish, if my mother ( obm) was alive today should would be horrified to see this happening again to the Jewish people I believe in the motto " Never Again" and Jews and Israel should be on alert with Hashem's help that this tragedy never happens ever again

It's true. I saw the Jewish convert being given the names Kfir and Ariel in an Orthodox Jewish ceremony. I saw it on YouTube.

No words can begin to describe the horror and barbarism unleashed in Israel. Daughters, sons, mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, grandparents taken from people in the cruellest and most horrific way possible. Hundreds of people have been killed, many wounded or missing and others living through the unimaginable agony of having a loved one kidnapped and held hostage. My message to people in israel is to keep believing because very soon G-d will set us free from this horrifying world and all our dreams will come true

I was paying attention to all the incidents you mentioned. And I am sure that every person in the Jewish world most likely did pay attention.
It is horrible what the terrorist do to us. Baby or not, a child or an adult, taking the life of a human being in such a way it’s horrific.
However, the case here is a little bit different because they were kidnapped from their house. Along with their mother.
Moreover, these monsters, the Hamas, put the blames on the Israel. Which again, it was a big lie.
The horrific part about it is not just that they were kidnapped, it’s the lies, and the fact that they didn’t want to return them when we could, and the fact that they lied also about their mom.
To be honest with you, I disagree with you that we’re not paying attention.

Thank you so much, Nissan Ratzlav-Katz, for writing this.

I've been seething about how nearly all the politicians and journalists act like this is the first time Jews have ever been attacked or murdered "in their pajamas."

It's selective amnesia on their part. Unforgivable.

They do this every time...and then the politicians and military elites continue to do little to nothing to ensure the atrocity won't repeat.

Had the military and political elites not only remembered, but also cared about the Jews listed in your article, the Bibas family would still be alive and whole right now.

So thank you for being a voice of caring and remembering.

Pharaoh commanded that Jewish baby boys be cast into the Nile and drowned. Hitler ordered that Jewish babies be thrown into pits and shot, or thrown into gas chambers to die.
There’s nothing that justifies the intentional murder of a baby.

The truth is i was going to write animals but it is actually offensive to describe them to animals so i juat hope and pray every day that g-d will finally set israel free and make these horrendus people just die.

For all of my life I have been about peace and caring for others regardless of skin color, religion, or gender identity. There was for me, something anathema to deliberately taking a human life not to mention having some sadness over the loss of life in general. October 7th 2023 caused an unwanted and profound change in me I never thought possible. A rage washed over me that so far remains at an extremely high level. Every time Jewish lives have been taken and Arabs have celebrated I always thought that not all are so heartless. Oct. 7th regrettably changed that perception. Not only were Gazans willing participants in the slaughter, rape, and mutilation of innocent people, the abused the hostages in every manner one could think and cheered about it as well.

Naftali Yisrael

The fact that even the children, regardless of their age, freely cheered alongside proved there wasn't any redeemable being in Gaza. It shattered whatever compassion I had to the general populace that up until then was portrayed as 'innocent'! I would, without any hesitation, eliminate the entire population of Gaza with the full belief that none are redeemable, ever! In seeing the uptick in behavior in Judea and Samaria, I fully believe the entire population there is equally irredeemable and MUST be removed if Israel is to ever have peace between the Golan and the Mediterranean Sea and Lebanon and the Sinai. The entire population that identifies as "Palestinian" should be resettled in other Arab countries, specifically where their family heritage exists.

The fact those Arab countries don't want them resettled there is a clear indication they view them as a problem they don't want to deal with!

Ok we hear and we see,
Then what do we do?
The Israelis put their lives and bodies on the line confronting Hamas in the military war, but we don’t even lift a finger to write or raise our voices to defend Israel in the PR war.
We don’t publicly blame the Hamas Nazis for their killing of our people and of their own people who they use as human shields, but we allow Hamas to blame Israel for genocide.
Where is the powerful voice of Aish blaming Hamas for their killings and for
Hijacking aid trucks and for being terrorists and for their genocidal covenant which they carried out on 10/7?
Why can hundreds of Rabbi’s get together to publicly protest Trump‘s expulsion of illegal immigrants, but proud Jewish
organizations cannot get together to publicly blame Hamas?

Overall valid points, except you need to qualify which rabbis protested -- surely those who identify themselves as liberals, which today is synonymous with left-leaning.
It sounds ludicrous to protest against something that's illegal!

Take heart, Samuel, there are voices both Jewish and non-Jewish raised in defence of truth, justice and Israel. Douglas Murry, Natalie Hausdof, Einat Wolf, Konstantin Kissin, Yosef Hadad, Oren Cohenovitz and more. Aish is also at work via their slate to the Zionist Congress and many "grass roots" programs.
Of course our enemies will always be more numberous and perhaps louder, but with the Creator's help truth, justice & Israel will prevail.

This is a very strong headline. I don't think anybody has forgotten any of the atrocities listed, just like the atrocities in the holocaust will never be forgotten, even the ones that are less known. God doesn't forget, but people would not be able to go on if we continuously kept the shock fresh. We are only capable of handling so much, our frail souls would not be able to survive for thousands of years since the Churban if we just sat in shock from every possible tragedy ever to have occurred. The people who have rebuilt from the ashes certainly do not live their life harping over tragedy but in a fierce fight of courage and insurmountable strength to honor the lost loved ones by living in their names, by doing good deeds and making the world a better place.

There is a very large gulf between 'fighters' (terrorists in truth) hiding behind women and children in a war to sneaking into the homes of civilians and murdering sleeping children. I think you are grown up enough to know this. The so-called Gaza's left Gaza and snuck into Israel to murder. What occupation? They started a war. They didn't go toe to toe with the IDF they went after people sleeping in kibbutzim. 'He who is merciful when he should be cruel, will in the end be cruel when he should be merciful'. Watch your thinking. May H' avenge the death of all of these Jewish innocents.

Sad to say but Israelis and the Israel government are the ones not paying attention. What other country would continue, "business as usual," in the face of these monstrosities? Why are Israelis not taking to the streets en-masse in protest against their government for not ending this outrage once and for all? Why does the government of Israel still have a "Jewish department" to persecute young idealistic Jews regarding them as "terrorists," as if to equivocate between Arab monsters and them.

Until Israel acts like it has a spine, we cannot expect more from the "Arab world" nor from any other country.

So you know the answer to stopping terrorism!
Well, protesting isn't going to change the fact that Arabs, who are for the most part terrorists or terrorist supporters, are determined to wipe out the Jews. Only Hashem's interference via His human agents has prevented that from happening, b"H, so doing His will is the way to go!

If you suggest that once caught, terrorists should never be freed and certainly not exchanged in outrageous ratios for civilian Jewish hostages, that sounds logical because the moment the beasts are released, they gleefully plan their next attack.

Public outcries would better be addressed to global leaders than to our own govt. because it's world pressure that holds us back from doing what we should— executing the evil murderers (humanely, of course

Israel has been forced by the UN and many of its “friends” and Israel’s national humanity to respond as it has to date.

There is only one way to eradicate the inhumanity of Iran’s proxies and that is to completely remove all individuals who follow that doctrine.

This will happen and it will take a miracle. It is in God’s - Hashem’s eternal hands.
