Debunking Viral Claim About the Talmud and Minors
Elul, the month leading up to the High Holidays, is a time for introspection and personal growth. We take stock of our behavior of the past year and begin planning how we will improve ourselves as we approach the new year. A common saying is that the Hebrew letters which spell “Elul” stand for “Ani l'dodi v'dodi li” – a phrase from Song of Songs (6:3) meaning, “I am for my Beloved [God] and my Beloved is for me.” It is a time in which the powerful love between God and Israel is even more intense, and when our repentance and plans to improve are especially welcome and cherished.
